Deni Bonnier, President One of the company’s founders has been President and Head of Business Development since Obzerv’s inception in 2002. He is responsible for overall management and direction of Obzerv as well as the Obzerv’s business development.
Mr. Bonnier began his career at the Department of National Defense, where he spent 17 of his 22 years of experience as researcher and group leader. From 1990 to 1994, he headed the group that developed and tested Canada’s first active underwater mine detection camera (LUCIE) whilst he also supervised the development and testing of an active airborne search and rescue camera (ALBEDOS). As head of the Active Surveillance section, he represented Canada on the NATO committee on the military applications of laser systems. In 1998, Mr. Bonnier joined INO to head its active imaging and DALIS™ laser source group.
Mr. Bonnier holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in electrical engineering from Laval University in Quebec City. He is currently a member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec and the Optical Society of America.
Louis Demers, Vice-president Louis Demers is one of the company’s founders and he has served as the Obzerv’s Vice-President since 2002. He is responsible of the direction of Obzerv as well as the Obzerv’s products development.
He has worked for 18 years as researcher and scientific team leader in the fields of optics, electronics, signal processing, and digital simulation. In this capacity, he was senior designer of the world-class infrared missile countermeasures “Simulator of Engagement for Missiles, Aircraft, and Countermeasures” (SEMAC) for the Canadian Department of National Defense. He also represented Canada on many TTCP and NATO scientific committees. While still maintaining a very active role on the scientific team, he headed the Infrared Missiles Countermeasures group from 1991 to 1999, as well as the Electro-Optic Warfare section on an interim basis for a year.
From 1999 to 2001, Mr. Demers was first Director of Scientific Research, then Vice President, Technology at Labcal Techhnologies. As part of his mandate, Mr.Demers headed the development of a unique product combining fingerprint recognition, smart card, and public key infrastructure features.
In 2001, Mr. Demers headed the development of the latest active camera prototype at INO.
Mr. Demers holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering physics (1984) from Laval University in Quebec City and he is a member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec, the IEEE Signal Processing Society, the IEEE Circuit & Systems Society, and the IEEE Computer Society.
